Pregnancy-related claims are on the rise, and more than 3,000 pregnancy discrimination charges were filed last year. Failure to accommodate a pregnant employee could land an employer in hot water. It is important to understand what standards govern hiring, disciplining, and accommodating a pregnant applicant or employee.

Mona Mehta Stone is an attorney in Greenberg Traurig’s litigation and labor and employment departments.  She earned her Juris Doctor from Tulane University School of Law in 1997 and practiced law in Chicago for 13 years, including serving as in-house counsel, before moving to Phoenix in 2010.  Mona represents both public and private entities throughout the country, ranging from small businesses to multibillion-dollar companies.  She is the published author of 4 books, including employer guides on EEOC investigations, employment handbooks and policies, and non-compete agreements.  Mona regularly handles employment disputes, with a successful defense track record at administrative hearings, arbitrations, mediations and trial.
